Today we looked at consent as one of the tools for responsible data management. In most instances consent agreements are very unreadable, filled with legal jargon and vague language. This general bad standard defeats the purpose of asking for explicit consent in how a person’s data will be processed. How can you agree to something you do not understand. Therefore, this session looked at best practice for consent agreements. These agreements must provide clear and reliable information on how personal data is collected, used, accessed and shared. It should also inform the user who they can turn to for questions or complaints.
